Crowded in MoS 2 much???
On the Eve of the Man Of Steel Blu-Ray, a lot of information ( rumors ) have been coming out about the Man Of Steel 2 movie a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman or World's Finest. One thing that we do know Batman who is going to played by Ben Affleck and Superman is going to be played by Henry Cavill will be in the movie and that is all we know. The internet over the last couple of days has been buzzing with news of which new DC character is supposedly be in BvS. Nightwing was one of the characters that is supposedly to be in the movie. I think this would be an interesting choice considering what happened in the end of "The Dark Knight Rises" movie. I would like to see how the studio would develop the character and whether or not they are going to reference he (Nightwing) was once Robin. The other character that is said to do be in the movie is Wonder Woman. As far as whether she is going to have an important role in the movie or not is still remains to be seen. It will be a big step in the right direction, giving one of the notable characters from DC her own movie. Another superhero who is supposedly to be in the movie is The Flash. What is DC trying to do with putting all of these characters in one movie? . . . . . . . . Ahh yes the long awaited Justice League movie. Now people might ask themselves why is DC is doing the Justice League movie this way and not the way Marvel did it when they did the Avengers. My answer to you guys is to look at the comics, especially the graphic novel Justice League "Origins", written by Geoff Johns. In the graphic novel, the superheroes met one by one until they formed "The Justice League". If this is the case, I have a couple gripes about it. First they are going to be missing some key members like Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Jon Martian Manhunter. ( Maybe just maybe Martian Manhunter will be introduced to us in Justice League Dark). Maybe the reason they did not add Green Lantern yet , is because WB would like to see the response to MoS2 and if it does pretty well. Is the movie does well WB will find some way to bring Green Lantern to the Justice League.

Stick to the Script (or in this case the Comics)
Before I start I am going to say that this blog will contain SPOILERS of Iron Man 3, so if you have not seen the movie yet please do not continue reading . . . . . .. .
Before I discuss the movie, I want to say very proudly I did the Iron Man Marathon that showed the following movies, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Avengers and Iron Man 3 then I went to see Iron Man 3 the next day. . .
Let me begin to the reason why I am writing this blog.. After Iron Man 3 came out some people, I guess you can so some well known people on twitter was asking everyone what they thought of the movie. .. of course after what I just saw, I had to put my two cents in. I dunno why I did not enjoy the movie as much as the other people did but something happened. Was it the fact that I was sitting in the same seat from nine in the morning to midnight? No that can not be it. Could it be that the movie theater in which I saw Iron Man was not the BIG IMAX screen that I hoped for? No that was not it either. Could it be that Robert Downey Jr will no longer play Tony Stark/Iron Man anymore.. Ehhh could be but the real reason why I did not enjoy how they portrayed the "Villain" of the movie. . . The Mandarin. {SPOILERS ALERT} I'm going to make this short and sweet so if you have not seen the movie yet . . . .please DO NOT CONTINUE . . .In short the "Mandarin" ( hence the "" ) was giving the worst character details or profiles . . . I dunno what you call it. I do not know how you can make the Mandarin which by the way if you do not know is the biggest Arch-Enemy of Tony Stark. I do not find it possible how Marvel could expect fans to be ok with the character development of the Mandarin. To me and many comic book readers, the Mandarin is a cold hearted person with ten magical power rings on both of his hands and each power ring has a different function or ability that it could do. Marvel decided not to go with this is route in Iron Man 3. They decided to make the Mandarin a out of work actor who nods off from time to time and who was an drug addict in one point of his life, to me that was a throw away character. I did not take this "new" description of the Mandarin very well. Some people said "Oh you should keep an open mind and remember it's just a movie", just a movie? Sorry but when you are making a comic book movie don't you owe it to the fans who actually read the comic books to make it at least somewhat similar? I mean can you keep the villains the same? Is that too much to ask? To me at least the Iron Man 3 hype of the Mandarin being in the movie was just that . . . hype. It was a like a big middle finger to the fans who actually thought the Mandarin was going to be the Mandarin from the comics.
I do understand that movies no matter what type of movie it is will always be the interpretation of the director. There is a difference when it comes to sticking to the resource materials which are the comic book then making up your own story for a character. This brings me back to the Dark Knight Trilogy, which we all remember was director was Christopher Nolan. Did he take some liberties with the trilogy, of course he did but none of those liberties were dramatic as it was in Iron Man 3. I think I may have found the problem. When Nolan was filming The Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan had said that he was going to take stories from different graphic novels and have them show up in the movie. In a sense the graphic novel was more like structure for the movie. In Iron Man 3, I heard that they were going to use the extremis plot-line from the comics, but I have to say they even got that wrong. I know it's just a movie but when you love a character so much, you just want to see everything done right.

Expanding the DC Universe . . .. . . . .
Hello fellow nerds and geeks ,
This blog is mainly about the Justice League movie that seems always to be delayed and expanding the DC Universe. We all know how successful the Batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan was in the movie theaters right? My question to you guys is that was that due to the fact it was the character or was it the script and why did Green Lantern did not do as well? I think the answer is clear for both movies. The script had a lot to do with it but it also has to deal with how recognizable the characters are. Everybody and their mother loves Batman and Superman and to me, they are the main focal characters in the DC Universe. This could be a big problem for Warner's if they just want to jump in and make a Justice League movie. If the rumors are true and Warner's wants to have five super heroes in the Justice League movie, my question will be how can you give each character enough screen time within two and a half hours? Should DC take a page out of Marvel and do what they did, in having solo films building up to a super hero team movie? My answer is Yes and please hear me out before you say DC can not do that because Marvel already did, so DC needs to come out with a different way. If you do not know this about me, I'm a big sports fan and I am going to make this analogy. A couple of years ago, a movie came out by the name of "MoneyBall". The movie basically describes how the Oakland A's of Major League Baseball (MLB) tries to complete with the big market teams, like the New York Yankees. What Billy Beane (general manger of the Oakland A's) decides to do, is to get players that other teams do not want because they might be passed their prime. Billy uses numbers instead of gut feeling and talent to build a baseball team. You might be asking yourself, "Well what does this have to do with comics and especially the DC universe?" My answer to you is ALOT. After the Oakland A's made it to the playoffs using the system that Billy said to use, other teams like the Boston Red Sox used the same way of building a team and guess what .. they won the World Series not once but TWICE. The system called MoneyBall is currently being use around the Majors and no one is complaining about it. They are saying if it works why fix it. The New York Mets are also using this system but then again they are the New York Mets. My point is I think DC should use the same format Marvel did to get to their super hero team movie. If it works do not fix it. If DC decides not to use this system and just jumps into their super hero team movie, how can you tell me a person who does not read the comics is going to enjoy the movie? They have never ever seen or heard that certain character before excluding Superman and Batman, they are going to have this question in the back of their minds thought out the movie... "Who is this character and how did they get their powers?" I think DC and Warner's should do five solo films first, explaining each characters origin and how a big or small of a role they have in the DC universe. The audience needs to care about characters they have never heard before or have a sight understanding of the character like a Aquaman, who has always been the butt of jokes. This brings me into my next point which is expanding the DC Universe. .. . . .
On Saturday morning I wake up and I turn the channel to Cartoon Network because they had this block of an hour called "DC Nation" in which they showed animated cartoon super heroes. Now before they had this in the morning, every young kid had to wait till the evening to watch shows like Justice League and Teen Titans. Since they had this in the morning I said to myself man this is a great way to start the day, watching cartoons of my favorite super heroes. Within this block they had shows like Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice (which is a show about the super heroes sidekicks). I have to say that both shows are great because they EXPAND the DC universe because either show do not focus on Batman or Superman. They try to get to viewer to understand the different characters that exist within the universe. Unfortunately Cartoon network decides to cancel both shows because Cartoon Network says they could not sell toys which thy say is one of the main ways they make money even though rating for both shows are extremely high and both shows sell well in iTunes. To me it does not make sense because Green Lantern and Young Justice have huge roles in the DC universe. These creators were in my mind at least were exposing young and adults about the different characters in the DC universe and to cancel both of these shows is a big mistake in my mind. I say this because if DC wants to make another Green Lantern movie, the animated series does not necessarily need to follow the same plot of the movie but can serve as a back drop of information in which the audience can use and at least could make some connection to the animated series. Going with this idea of EXPANDING the DC universe, I turn to the comic books. Just today, DC released the numbers on how well The New 52 is doing. Currently DC released two new books called Vibe and Katana, not surprising they did very low as for sales. (In full disclosure I have Vibe on my pull list and I am interested in reading the book). This is a problem because readers are not willing to spend 3.99 and take that chance in reading a new character while they have eleven batman books to choose from. I think if DC wants to be as successful as Marvel, it all starts in the comics and in the animated tv shows. Even Geoff Johns said in a podcast on "FatMan on Batman" by Kevin Smith, that he loves to take characters like Aquaman (which he is currently writing and a comic that I have on my pull list) which no one cares about and make the audience want to care again. He goes on to say their is a reason why the character suviered so long , he just wants to find that spark again. Having said all of this, I just hope DC and Waners do not mess up this Justice League movie.

DC Nation Shorts....
Saturday Morning was the return of the long and awaited cartoon block on Cartoon Network called "DC Nation". DC Nation has been off each kids regularly schedule saturday morning list since mid-October for some reason Cartoon Network decided to pull the series off the air. Today marks the first day it returned to the delight of many comic book fans of all ages. Yes Green Lantern and Young Justice have been excellent shows , but the other main reason children tune in is to see the different shorts that DC has to offer from "New Teen Titans" to "Mad Presents" to "Super Best Friends Forever". Today as I was watching both Green Lantern and Young Justice a new short appeared that made me very content. The short was called "Thunder and Lighting".
The reason why "Thunder and Lighting" made
me content was because DC is trying to branch out it's lesser super heroes so they could be more known. In the short "Thunder and Lighting", it featured a super hero that is not very known to most comic book readers, and that super hero is called, "Black Lighting". "Black Lighting as the name suggest is a superhero who is of the African American decent who only appeared in a couple of comic books before being an after thought. Black Lighting real name is Jefferson Pierce, who has the ability to manipulate and generate electricity who can also produced a force field. Even though both comic book companies have black super heroes like Black Panther, Storm and Bumble Bee, I do not think it is enough. As far as I know, the current blue beetle is the only hispanic super hero. Either way it's a start but more can be done. Here is the short of "Thunder and Lighting"
